I'm 22, I definitely don't think I'm pregnant, but cannot figure out what it could be. The discharge is of egg white consistency with only small clots of blood and occurred (the first time) the time I would normally ovulate-- which is normal for me each month. I'm only concerned becuase it occurred twice. Absolutely no cramping, soreness, nausea etc. Any suggestions?

Let's assume you aren't taking any medications, don't have any STDs, and aren't pregnant.

Midcycle spotting, as you already know, can be a sign of ovulation. So can egg-white discharge.

Normally women only ovulate once monthly, and from one ovary (the developing follicle on the ovulating ovary is supposed to prevent the growth of other follicles). However, the existence of fraternal twins proves that some women can ovulate multiple times in the same cycle. This may be what is happening to you.

Another possibility is that during and after ovulation, as your estrogen levels are rising, you shed a bit of the endometrial (uterine) lining. However, as egg-white discharge usually means ovulation, you may simply have ovulated twice. Yes, some women can ovulate without pain.

If this occurs several months in a row, or if it's accompanied by unusual, significant pain, you may want to see your physician.

It is possible that this could be an indication of a hormone imbalance or even an infection but the only way to know for sure is to see your doctor for further evaluation of the situation to see what they think could be going on.
