Check the site out in the source list, heres some hard vocabulary:
Somatic cell - Any plant or animal cell that is not a germ cell. The class of cell formed during *mitosis.
Germ cell - Cells that lead to the production of gametes. Produced by *meiosis.
Diploid cell - A cell with two sets of chromosomes, one from the mother and one from the father
Gametes- Egg and sperms

-MITOSIS: This is the cell reproduction cycle where there is actual DNA replication, and one cell splits into 2 daughter cells. The major/most well known phases of mitosis are interphase, prophase, metaphase, anaphase, telophase, and cytokinesis. This is asexual.
((To explain each one in depth is very diffcult and tedius; go check out some websites to get some accurate information.))
-MEIOSIS: In this form of replication, there are four daughter cells. The difference is that each of these cells, essentially, only has half of the original genetic content (less number of chromosomes). Thus, some of these daughter cells, called "haploid" cells, merge with other cells of the other sex. Meiosis is sexual.

Mitosis is when a cell replicates its chromosomes and splits into two daughter cells.
Meiosis is when a cell forms gametes. It goes under the mitotic process, forming two daughter cells. The daughter cells do NOT replicate their chromosomes, but still split, forming haploid (23 chromosome) sex cells, or gametes.
In males, this results in four sperm cells. In females, it results in two polar bodies, and one Ovum, or egg, carrying a third polar body (this polar body is typically expelled when a sperm enters the egg, though in EXTREMELY rare cases, the sperm will be expelled, and the mother will give birth to a genetic clone of herself, which will be infertile).

Mitosis is cell division of somatic, body , cells which results in the standard chromosome number for the organism.
Meiosis occurs in sperm and egg cells over a series of reduction divisions, the number of chromosomes is halved.

mitosis is cell division in somatic cells. meiosis is cell division in gamete (reproductive: sperm and egg) cells. in meiosis, a cell will duplicate its dna and form diploid chromosomes so that when the cell divides, each daughter cell will receive a single set of chromosomes and therefore, a compelte genome of the previous cell. in meiosis, a cell duplicates its dna, and homologous chromosomes bond (at chiasmata) to form tetrads. There are two pairs of diploid chromosomes in a tetrad. Homologous chromosomes split and break the tetrad in meiosis one and then chromatids part in meiosis two. the result is four haploid daughter cells with half of the original cell's dna. when fertilization occurs, the cell becomes diploid again.
