I went shopping the other day and purchased several items. One of which was a purse. I didn't have the time to look inside it but I loved the way it looked. I paid for everything and proceeded to walk out of the store. As I walked out, the alarm went off and so I just stopped and looked around. I looked at the cashier and he motioned for me to go on out. So, I did. I then returned home and went through the purse only to find that the security "thingy" wasn't removed from inside.
Now, I have no idea how to remove it and I can not take my purse into any store because it will trigger the alarm. How can I get the security "thingy" off without all the ink messing up my purse?? It's such a pretty bag!! But, what is the use if I can't carry it anywhere without looking like a criminal??
Does anyone have any suggestions??

Two ideas, Lisa.
First, take the purse and receipt back to the store but make sure they see you walk in with it.
Secondly, or as an alternative, take a magnet (a real one, not the fridge kind) and swipe across it to erease it. All they do when they scan it across the flat thing is 'demagnatize' it.

I know it looks sketchy. However, call the store asap and speak with the manager - tell her that the cashier forgot to take the security tag off. Tell her when you bought the purse as well. Then tell her around what time you'll be in the store (this way the manager will make sure that she's around in case the cashiers are stumped - or else the manager will advise the cashiers about your situation). Bring your receipt as well!
It's an honest mistake. I used to work in retail, it's no biggie. It does get suspicious if the same person keeps calling in to complain that they still have their security tags still on...er, but that's not you.
Don't bother trying to remove it, you'll likely end up cutting the bag or damaging it.
It doesn't matter how sketchy you look, a store cannot accuse you of theft. Unless someone is walking out of the store with stolen merchandise in their hand, then there is no real way to find shoplifters. You're in the clear, and if cashiers try to give you problems, then just ask to speak with the manager.
If you're uncomfortable, ask your mom to come in with you. I bring my mom along if I need to return something and I lost the receipt...

Take the bag and the receipt back to the store for removal of the tag. Who cares if it sets off the alarms? You paid for it and should be able to use it. It is their fault for not removing it in the first place.

Bring it in with the receipt.
If you used a check card, bring in that you paid for it.
Or just call and explain to a manager the problem
and let them know when you will be in.
And if you walk in and beep, they wont stop you.

You can't. I would call the store and tell them that the cashier forgot totake off the security thing and they will take it off for you.
