I am assuming you mean Alberta, Canada. If you are in Canada, then yes, it is legal.

If you are referring to a place in the US, then I suggest you do a google search for "Ages of Consent in America" as the age of consent varies from state to state. In Hawaii it is 14, in others it is 16 and in others it is 17 and in others18. Pennsylvania it is 13 if the other minor is no more than 3 years older, otherwise 16.

The answer would depend on the local law and it is more complex than people are indicating here. Most states do not have one “age of consent” but they have various crimes depending on the age of the victim and the difference in age. For example, in Washington, if the victim is between 14 and 16 years old and the perpetrator is under 18 but also at least 48 months older than the victim, that would be “Child molestation in the third degree.” If the victim is between 12 and 14 years old, and the perpetrator is under 18 but at least 36 months older than the victim, then it’s “Child molestation in the second degree.” http://apps.leg.wa.gov/RCW/default.aspx?cite=9A.44.086 So the idea of “age of consent” is not relevant if one person is much older than the other person. There is no one “age of consent,” that’s not how the law works. In the US, most states have abandoned sexist definitions (in the past, the boy could be charged with a crime against the girl but not the opposite). If you are the same age, then I don’t think it is a crime because who would be the perpetrator and who would be the victim? If there is an age difference, then you should start to worry. I might be wrong, though, because I don’t know anything about Canadian law.
Assuming you are the same age, then maybe the more important issue is whether you are using protection against STDs, like AIDS, and pregnancy. The pill does not protect and it is not 100% effective against STDs (I know what I am talking about -- I became pregnant while on the pill). You need to use condoms too. Even then, you still are risking pregnancy and STDs. Also, you might not be emotionally mature enough for sex at that age.

Yes it is illegal.

The age of consent is 16, meaning you can have sex with a 16 or 17 year old and not get in trouble. If you are 16 and have sex with an 18+ year old it is illegal

Even if you're 14 and your partner is 14/15 your parents can sue your partners parents and win even if you both consented and said it was alright.

I live in Alberta. From what I've read I guess it's illegal but I have met so many people that have lost their virginity by age 14, none of my friends and I at least.

most people would think and assume it is illegal only because you are still young and maybe they feel your mind is not mature enough to make decisions. this is my opinion and not that i am encouraging sex to minors, but you are you and you know what you do. you also know the consequences of having sex. so i am more than sure you know the precautions you have to take to protect yourself and your partner... i do not feel it is illegal because now and days 12 and 13 years old are having sex....the only thing you can do is be cautious, use protection, and be careful that the person is not over 18 because then it is illegal through the system..... good luck and enjoy your personal satisfaction.

According to section 151 of the Criminal Code, the legal age for consenting to a sexual activity is fourteen (14) years

'Every person who, for a sexual purpose, touches, directly or indirectly, with a part of the body or with an object, any part of the body a person under the age of fourteen (14) years is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding ten years or is guilty of an offence punishable on summary conviction.'

Unfortunately--that means that sex at 14 is legal in Canada.
Please if you do have sex, at least use protection.

maybe i wasn't listenging correctly but during sex ex [9th grade; high school] they told us that at the age of 14. a person is responsible for their own sexual things. like smoking at 18. and alcohol at 21. example; you can go to a clinic [at the age of 14] and get birth control pills or whatever, and they won't have to contact your parents.
this is in california.
but i think most states have a general same idea.

am i wrong.? haha.
