What are the requirements for getting into law school?

My GPA is a 2.9 and I go to Florida State. I haven't taken the LSAT yet.

We have a good law school at the university, would it be easier to get into that school considering I will receive my undergrad from the same university that I am applying for?

Also - what GPA is median, and what is a good LSAT score?

Thanks in advance!

These are the numbers for Florida State from the Law School Admissions Council.

75% GPA- 3.74
50% GPA - 3.46
25% GPA - 3.26
75% LSAT - 161
50 % LSAT - 159
25% LSAT - 158

The law school considers the strength of your undergraduate program in determining admissions, and your school will probably look favorably on the fact that you attending their institution for undergraduate studies. This, however, is only a slight advantage. They will mostly look at your GPA and LSAT scores.

Unfortunately, you do have a good law school at Florida State, and to get into it, your GPA would have to be a good deal higher than your current GPA is (I would estimate a minimum of 3.5, perhaps higher than that). Most schools, especially the better ones, get a lot of applicants from their own schools, and having a school full of their own graduates would harm their reputation, so they make a great effort to get diversity of schools in their entering class, so it is actually harder to get into the school from which you graduated than into others of the same quality.

According to U.S. News, Florida State accepted 24.3% of its applicants this year, and the middle 50% of their applicants had LSAT scores from 158-161.
