The Chiefs have missed the playoffs pretty consistently over the past few years. As for what's wrong with them? Well lets see...
- The worst GM in football, Carl Peterson
- Herm Edwards is an average at best coach
- Solari is a crap offensive coordinator
- Poor quarterback play
- They ran their star running back into the ground in 2 years
- No real wide receivers minus Bowe who had an OK rookie year
- A terrible offensive line
- Subpar defensive line
- Aging secondary
That about covers it. Things will never change as long as Peterson runs that team, as he keeps the team just competitive enough to put fans in the stands but he refuses to give them the tools to get over the hump.

I think a lot of it had to do with the QB and offensive line. With Trent Edwards and a key veteran gone, the Chiefs came into this season lacking in two critical positions. Then they lost LJ (although he hadn't been running that great all season) and had a hard time scoring.
I don't think Herm Edwards is a bad coach, but he's in a very transitional phase for the Chiefs right now. There are several bright spots, including one of the better defenses in the NFL. With a little development of Brodie Croyle, getting LJ back and building a better offensive line, they can have a better season next year.

Herm Edwards is one of the worst head coaches in the NFL. The Chiefs front office is totally incompetent, and you got a bunch of sucky players.

defense was brutal, as usual. no LJ for much of the year, and shoddy quarterbacking. their O-Line was their strength in that they stayed together and stayed healthy for a few years, and age and injuries have started to catch up to them. on the bright side, they have D. Bowe to get excited about, and Gonzalez had a pretty solid year after a couple of years of dropping off. in a weak division, they might be able to rebuild enough on the fly to become competitive again. but they're going to need to figure out if Croyle is the right guy to lead them, and if Herm has enough of a clue to get them back to the playoffs. i have my doubts about Herm though...

they have a lot of rebuilding to do...they have among the oldest teams, and need soooo many players. I'm afraid it'll be a while for all the rebuilding, but there is a good coaching staff involved.

they just lost 9 games in a row to end their season.. they were just all around bad this year.. they need lots of changes this offseason.. i would start by getting a more consistant QB then go from there...
