My friend put in a tampon before she went to bed, and when she woke up she had leaked and bled EVERYWHERE. Everything was soaked in blood. When she tried to take the tampon out it hurt horribly, and it wouldn't come out. Eventually she got it out, and there was a ring of SKIN on it. She put in another, and when she pulled it out there was another ring on it. The skin was still attatched inside of her. She is a virgin, and never bleeds at night, and she doesn't bleed this much either. Has she lost her virginity?

It is possible to break the hymen with a tampon or even falling, and that is certainly not losing your virginity. The only time you aren't a virgin anymore, is when your first have sexual intercourse. Tell her to relax. She is still a virgin. :)

OK, first off a virgin is someone who has never had sex. Your virginity has nothing to do with your hymen.
All it is is a membrane left over from prenatal organ formation. It has no purpose.
You can tear or wear down your hymrn for years before ever having sex just from living a normal physically active life, including tampons. And some girls are born almost w/o a hymen.
Yes it is possible that using tampons can cause your hymen to tear or stretch. Something like that may have happened to your friend. But even having a thick hymen and tearing it with a tampon may cause a sharp pain but not gushing blood.
BTW.. Believe me you do bleed at night during your period! Your flow may not be very heavy and depending on your position the blood may pool inside of you but when you get up you will definatly notise! Leaking and accidents at night is very normal. It looks like your friend started menstruating recently and just may not have been used to it.
And again no she has Not lost her virginity. You stop being a virgin when you have sex ok?

NO. No, no, no, you cannot lose your virginity to a tampon! It sounds like she tore her hymen or pulled the tampon out too hard, but that's hard to believe if there was blood everywhere, it should've slid out...At any rate, losing your virginity=having intercourse, not tearing your hymen. Some girls are even born without them.....

No, she didn't lose her virginity.
She should talk to her doctor though. It is not unusual to break your hymen while inserting a tampon but it doesn't normally produce as much blood as you are mentioning. She also should not be shedding layers of skin as you describe.
The included link will give you, and her, lots of information on the hymen. That information though should not replace that given by a doctor.

No. The only way you can loose your virginity is if you have sex. Not by using a tampon.

It's possible to break your hymen, but technically no you don't lose your virginity to a tampon. i would advise her not to use one for a while and it might be a good idea to see a gynecologist, tell them what happened, and make sure nothing is damaged.

**sigh**
Virgin = Penis NOT INTO vagina
Not a Virgin = Penis INTO vagina
A tampon is NOT a penis.
