You have got to be kidding this far into the semester or quarter and you haven't gotten the transposing fractions by inverting and mutliplying down yet?
Ok!
4/5x = 80 transpose 4/5 by inverting and mutliplying by 5/4
5/4 * 4/5x = 80 * 5/4
5/4 * 4/5 cancel each other out so you are left with.
x = 80 * 5/4 or:
x = 80 /1 * 5/4
which gives you
x = 400 / 4
simplify the fraction:
x = 100 / 1 and 1 divided into 100 = 100
answer is:
x = 100

4/5x=80 Source equation
4=400x (multiply both sides by 5x)
400x=4 (switch sides) (optional)
x= 4/400
= 1/100
= 0.01
