Before you do anything make your set of backup / recovery Cd's so you can always put it back.

Since Vista is classified as a higher level OS you will need to install XP first,

You will need to Fdisk the drive and then partition it into 2 drives.

Install XP on the first partition

Once done, reboot then Install Vista on the second partition.

Vista will then set your computer up as a dual boot.

You have to get a secondary program to partition the drive. The you have to install XP on the second partition. Then, to dual boot, you have to search Google to learn how to reset the NTLDR so that Vista can co-exist with XP.

This is a good place to read up on it-

This is called a "dual boot" PC when you have two OS's installed and can choose which one to run at start up. There are instructions on how to do this at these web sites:

You can also search for "dual boot vista xp" from live.com or yahoo.com

Hi. Partition your disk or add another. One OS on each should work.
