What is a Dame? I hear on movies that women are married and then their husband dies and then the wife goes on to be a Dame. What is a dame? Is this a stylish rich women or something different?

Its just a slang term used in the 30s-40s-50s was used alot. Now its Hottie- and so on in todays slang terms!!!!

Dame was a slang term used for a woman that was tough in the 1940's.

In French it means "lady"

It's also used as the title for a female that has been Knighted over in Britain.
