I WOULD SHOOT THEM, GO TO BED, AND CALL THE COPS IN THE MORNING. THATS JUST ME.

First of all, you should do your best to NOT enter your house while it's being robbed!! The robber might be watching you all the way while all your inside lights are off, he can have a gun and do a lot of harm to you. You should be able to notice something when you are approaching your house... the door is knocked open, your windows are broken... there are always signs to watch. I hope this did not happen to you, it is a very unfortunate experience. If you do walk in without noticing anything, stay calm and try not to scream. It's better to let the robber go and THEN call the police. Try to memorize all physical traits, the clothing he's wearing, his voice, if he took anything from your house with him. If I were you -- if you can afford -- I would get an alarm system. I just got ADT installed and most people will stay away from my property. It's a very good protection.

I think the law in some countries gave us back the right to defend ourselves and our properties, but just the same unless your are a black belt or better in Karate or something like that you better be very careful, because you don't know what kind of weapon that they might be carrying on them. If it were me and I walked in on someone robbing my house I would try and get back out of there asap and if I was able to do this unnoticed, start looking around for some kind of vehicle that the robber might be using as a getaway and take down the registration number. In fact just to be sure take down all the rego no's of any vehicle you can see and give these rego no's to the police when you notify them.

True - you cannot "attack" someone but if you are in fear for your own safety you can defend yourself.

I'd "defend myself" all over the scumbag to within an inch of their lives - and who are the cops going to believe? A known thief or a homeowner who was scared?

The only reason that criminals in the UK get such an easy ride is because we let them - if more people took a stand then things would change.

Oh, and if anyone says that you cannot take the law into your own hands then they are mistaken - it is OUR law not the Police's law, not the Government's law - they are merely public servants who we choose to put in office. They are not our masters. We have lost sight of that fact I think.

Grab my taser gun if I am in the house and if I suspect the house is being fooled with I run to my neighbors and call the police. Once my door was unlocked and I thought I had locked it. I called the police right away and they checked it all out for me. Come to find out I must have forgotten to lock the door. Thank goodness no one stole anything, but it is a scary thought of someone going thru your personal items.

i might purely supply that person a o_0 face. Why might all of us prefer to 'gown' a house? (feels like an somewhat no longer trouble-free ingredient to do, inspite of reason...you may desire an mind-blowing style of fabric.) As for legality, i assume it extremely is wonderful..(it is in all probability some thing which you will might desire to look for suggestion from the legal specialists on..nonetheless, no longer even particular the lawmakers have seen this..)..oh wait, this may be under the 'private components intrusion (and manipulation) without permission' sector! On yet another observe, i might prefer to call the psychological scientific corporation...undesirable person.

I asked a similar question b4 and a guy said to beat the crap outta him or to shoot to kill but not from the back cause the robber can say that he was leaving when u shot him (if he survives)...when u call the cops u need to tell them that your hurt so then can show up right away, if u don't mention your hurt, they will take their time....Please beat the crap outta them with a baseball bat, I would love to do it. As a matter of fact,my husband and I wanna set up a trap to any robber that trys to break in, it's my house and i'm defending what belongs to me.....

Call 911, then try to avoid a confrontation if possible. Defend yourself if you or your family is threatened, but only if threatened. I live in a state where it's pretty much legal to shoot someone breaking in before they even get inside, or if they are fleeing with property after dark, you can use deadly force. Trust me, as a cop telling you this, it's better to just try to avoid a confrontation, because you CANNOT depend on the outcome.

play the big macho man. if you walk in start yelling and tell the robber to get the eff out. If someone tries to break in turn on the lights and get a baseball bat. call the cops and look outside so that you can get a description of the robber. also if you are that worried about the senario maybe you should get a dog.

Disrobe it possibly?

There's no easy answer to this. There is what you should do, which is call the police, stay calm, give them what they want etc.

Then there's what you'll probably do, get angry, pick up a large heavy object and charge at them like a maniacal Attila the Hun.

It's a situation you have to experience in order to know what you'll do. Let's hope it's an experience you'll never have.

Well, that depends what state you live in......yet in most, as long as the perpetrator "falls inside of the house" (and/ or inside threshold) - he is yours for the shootin'!!
It's called "Breaking & Entering" -- although a little more tricky if you walk in on them robbing you. Most thieves arent gonna hang around to have coffee & a conversation though ~
