Living matter is able to open larger bubbles in another dimension when uncertainty in the ordinary material dimension is completely balanced among event outcome factors. Full uncertainty freezes event outcome the material dimension is moving back toward singularity. Without a method of pressure in some direction away from complete event uncertainty, the material dimension looses the level of suspension. Syntropy comes from bubbles opened like consciousness for all uncertainty events, including "non-living" matter. In living material, the evolution of neurological complexity has somehow developed the characteristic of suspending bubble openings of much larger capability, across longer periods of time, if you accept time as a viable singular unidimensional variable. When your computer crashes, uncertainty came to full expression, but no new field in another dimension opened to press the direction of the event outcome. There are many who believe complexity alone will be shown to create intelligence with the ability to resolve all uncertainties (equal outcome probabilities) and thus essentially create life. So far, only genetic evolution of neurological systems (life, per se) has created such openings with extended capabilities. You won't like this if you are a strict mechanistic materialist. However, if you believe, as I do, that something like consciousness itself is experience of free will capability created by passing out of the closed loop mechanistic dimension into another that is orthoginal to an otherwise static mechanistic dimension that cannot be held in suspension without some passage to resolve complete uncertainty, ok. Remember, I am discussing uncertainty events here, that are characteristic of both "living" and "non-living" material groupings. It just so happens that living material can somehow hold the uncertainty event in a resolution bubble for a much longer time period with therefore, complexities of input that create relatedness in the field, while non-living matter is only a set of uncertainty events that have no capability to capture relatedness among events, regardless of the complexity exhibited in the material-mechanistic dimension. This is not supernatural. It is natural. We just can't define it and control it or create it, as such. These two dimensions probably are absolutely polar by definition, whereas god's great practical joke is that they seem to exist to humans concurrently. Fact is, our phenominology may be game we cannot escape any more than an electron stuck in complete uncertainty of momentum between shells can simultaneously occupy both dimensions.
