As a beginner in this whole make-up thing im not sure how to use and put on make-up. I look on tv and i see these beautiful women in make-up like in Loreal, Cover Girl, and Maybelline comecials. Its hard for me to see what make-up should look on me. My friend wears eyeliner, mascara and all that stuff but i cant really look up to how she wears it. I want it to be natural. Im just not sure how to layer it and how to make it look certain ways.

well first of all im new to it too but im used to it now...well anyways u want to put on eyeliner frist not alot since u want it to look natural it will bring out ur eyes even without that much...then when u apply the mascara u want to make sure there is enough on the brush so u dont have to keep doing it over and over again or it will get clumpy and have a whole bunch of clumps and thats not a good thing.........if u dont like eye shadow then go with a lil bit of sparkles but dont go to crazy i bet u will look beautiful by the time ur done...!!!!!

Start out with bronzes and browns and neutral colors...that way, if you make a mistake you really can't tell at all.

Instead of doing the entire "nightime" eyes (which is what you are describing) start with a daytime, lighter look. A little mascara (don't use waterproof in case you want to wash it off) in dark brown. You basically just brush it on your eyelashes. You'll notice a difference right away. Let it dry.

Now, try a little tan/bronze or light brown eye shadow. Put it on your eyelid all the way up to your eyebrow. If it's light enough, it will blend with your skin but you'll notice your eyes look...prettier.

If it's evening, you can try some liner, but start with a 'pencil' the same color as your mascara...just 'color' a little on your bottom eyelid only (not the top).

Try some tinted lip gloss too. Voila!

You can do all of this with a sister or friend to help and it's more fun! Don't do the funky blues and greens though...those colors give make-up a bad name.

Actually, against everyone else, I wear all three. My eyes don't look over done, and that is all the makeup i use. I don't wear bronzer, or any of that other junk, maybe a lip gloss, but really what I like to do is play up my eyes. I have brown eyes, so what I do makes them look really good. I put on a black eyeliner (the pencil one) not to dark of a line, but on the bottom and the top. Then i usually put on a brown eyeshadow that blends in, but still looks good and shows some. Sometimes I wear a black eyeshadow with grey so i get the smokey eye look, but usually just brown. Then I curl my eyelashes. After that, i blot off my mascara wand, black of course, so it doesn't go on thick and blotchy, and put on one coat of mascara. My eyes always look very nice after that, and I get compliments from it.

But all you need to do since your a beginner is practice. Since you don't go out at night, lock the bathroom door, stand in front of the mirror, and apply the makeup until you find what you like. Practice makes perfect.

Use shades that match your skin tone, and neutrals and natural looking colors. Don't use stark blacks, use dark espresso type colors for things like mascara and eyeliner, it is a more gentle look. You also want to stay away from too much glitter and glossiness. Mistakes with these products are a lot easier to see, esp when you get heavy handed.

Also age appropriate. And occasion appropriate. A middle age woman should not be attempting to look like a teenager, she isn't fooling anyone. And the average teen shouldn't attempt to look like a starlet. Don't wear evening makeup to the office or school.

Don't model your look after the things you see in fashion magazines, especially the ads. These are the trends that push the envelope but most people don't look like that, and don't want to look like that. Similar to how outrageous runway clothes usually get simmered down to be offered to us normal people. High fashion, including makeup trends, influences the "ordinary" look but most people don't try to copy it.

So when in doubt, less is more...it should be subtle, so people notice your pretty face, not your makeup.

I'm sure there are videos, maybe even some up and coming makeup artist who put something out on youtube. You can also get a makeover by a Mary Kay consultant, or a Merle Norman rep, or someone at the mall. They can show you HOW to use the products you are interested in. You don't have to buy all their stuff just because you asked them for info. Maybe just give them a tip for sharing their time, or buy a small item or your fav item.

You don't have to be brand loyal with makeup, as long as it suits your skin type and color palette. But you might want to keep your brands together when it comes to eye makeup, face makeup, etc...in other words if you buy a brand of shadow, try their eyeliner...they may be designed to work better together color or formula wise. Then look at face collections, may be that brand, or another. This isn't absolutely a rule, just makes things easier.

The correct brushes make all the difference in the world. Get a few and learn how to use them.

Some of the most natural looking products are really easy to use, and relatively foolproof. Check out powder mineral foundations, bronzers instead of blushers, tinted moisturizers, all in one face color for lips/cheeks/eyelids. These products save time, space, money, and they are very natural looking, as well as offering benefits that you might not bother with if you had to buy separate items.

Okay for the eyeshadow put a line of a darker color one the very bottom of your eyelid then put a lighter color on top of that. A good eyeshadow that's easy for beginners is Victoria secrets beauty rush, it comes in bottles and is really easy to put on.
For eyeliner, just dint put too much on, liquid eyeliner is nice, pencils are kinda scary for beginners. Put it close around your eye.
Then for the mascara just put a little on, don't try to keep adding more, then it just gets clumpy. just put it on your bottom and top lashes.

For help you can ask you mom, or go to a local salon they probably offer appointments to show teens what would look good on them, and how to apply make-up. Playing with it will just help you, and help you get used to putting it on. Remember that the people in those magazine have professionals putting on their make-up. who have been doing it for years, and even went to school to learn how to prefect it! Good luck!

do a base color of eyeshadow all over. then apply a lighter color on the lid, and a darker color on the crease. blend. make sure to use a color that goes well w/ ur eyes, not that matches ur outfit. liquid eyeliner on top, use a q-tip to get a clean line. pencil eyeliner on the bottom. use brown or black depending on ur eye color and skin color. use mascara last, only on the top unless you think you need it on the bottom. dont put on too much or it will clump! again, depending on how dark ur features are use brown, brown black, or black. use light colors of eyeshadow for a good daytime look
