So long as you're willing to pay for all the gas and extra wear and tear on the engine from running at higher revs go for it. Be prepared for less transmission life also.

ok there will be more damage to the engine than transmission. first the engine has to make more revolutions a minute, thus causing more wear. second depending on the weather the transmission will over heat causing the fluid to break down causing more tranny wear.. i drive a protege and i know exactly what you mean. but on earlier automatics if you shitft wrong you will redline something fierce.(expensive to fix that damage). that may not happen in your car, some trannys are equipped with a device that prevent shifting until the shift is safe

Definately examine at the same time with your broking approximately this, yet you may desire to be ok as long as you at the instant are not working at too intense a velocity in the previous you downshift. you additionally can prefer to evaluate greater popular transmission oil and clear out differences too. Your broking can propose you.

Prolly not but it will shorten engine life. Rule of thumb: 2x the rpm= 1/4 life. If you were going to get 100,000 miles out of this motor, but you drve in 2nd, and you'll only get 25,000.
