proof that they have been in the presence of a very well known person. just like pictures - proof that we've been to admiring places.

when i met my idol i was honored. The autograph is not only a more personal possession to have but also a reminder and something to have forever.

maybe for a personal shrine, haha. but, i have an autograph and I wanted it for just personal satisfaction. when you admire someone famous it's awesome to be able to get something physical signifying your admiration for them.

I think it's the idea that you have, in a way, a part of that person. A person's signature is a very personal part of them.
