Seriously why do people think that just because they are online they don't need to use proper grammar or complete spelling? I'm not talking about the occasional mistake I'm talking about the ppl that must spk in leet at all times. They use plz instead of please. Because the two seconds they saved cutting out four letters and adding one that doesn't belong accomplishes what? Now I understand and use things like: lol, afk, brb. That does save time especially when you need to run off from your comp so quickly. So what are your thoughts? And I am wearing my flame retardant outfit cause I know where I'm posting this and am aware of the responses I'm likely to have.

Actually I completely understand people who don't have English as a first language but to be honest I've noticed better grammar and spelling from them at times than native speakers. And I do cut slack in that department. It's people like my niece that drive me crazy. ur saves no time from actually typing out you're or your.

I'm guessing it's a combination of laziness and ignorance.

It's not even the abbreviations that bother me anymore. It's the insane spellings of unreal words that drive me crazy. Evendoe instead of even though. (Did you have a stuffed nose when you typed it out?) Because I teach sixth graders writing, I've learned to read through the mistakes. But some of it must be pure laziness to not even use a real word or bother clicking spell check.

I see it routinely, not just online. I'm not perfect, and I don't expect everyone else to be either, but I've actually seen people not capitalize the first word of a sentence, or even the word "I"! And we're talking formal reports where I work.

It's kind of sad, isn't it?

doesn't bother me.
i mean, think about it...
a lot of people can't write properly to begin withXDXDXD
not on the internet, not in real lifeXDXDXD
sad, but true.
um...
and a lot of people do not know how to type and therefore are pecking at the keyboard and clearly making a lot of mistakes and stuff and it takes them so long and it is such an effort for them that they prob. don't wanna go back and fix what they wrote.
hope this helps and just be glad that you aren't like that.
^^

Lack of courtesy, mostly. But recall that English is not the first language of many participants in this ratrace, so be prepared to cut some slack.

jus like everything else you and your people do, to try to force us to take on what has been embedded in our minds since the deuhmanizing actions brought on africans from christians and there cross - the english language is the language of death and we are not english so why in the hell are we even speaking that? amongst that, the english language stoled and ripped and stripped our indiginous people languages so why would we? do you understand where I am getting at? or better phrased, you feel wat im sayin?

I use bad grammar everywhere it's just online people can see it clearer =)

I honestly don't feel that pushed to be perfect on something that doesn't really matter online where everything I do is mostly for fun

-Secondy it is the Internet's version of Shorthand.
-It's officially chat lingo
-It seems cool
-Saves time, think about it, instead of 12 characters with space you type 3-4 alphabets.
