I woke up in my boxers and turned on the Tv and it said something about an airplane that crashed into one of the world trade center towers. I thought woah how did that happen and i kept watching the tower just burning for about 10 minutes and then another plane came in and hit the other. I thought was this a replay? I didn't get to find out what happened next because I had to go to school.

I was in the shower listening to the radio when I heard about the airplanes crashing into the buildings. I was glued to the television until I had to go to work. Saw 1 tower fell. Heard about the 2nd one falling on my way to work.

In that time I was only in 6th grade. I remember that my parents woke me up, around 5:30 am, so I could watch what was going on tv. I also remember that before 9/11 I didnt even know what a terrorist was.

Teaching a group of fourth grade students the violin in the back room of the school library. I could see a huge crowd of staff surrounding the tv in the main library area through the windows, but did not find out what had happened until my class was over.

I was in Aurora, Colorado, updating my sports website. I couldn't believe it when my mother (who knows nothing about sports), came in and told me all sports were cancelled. At first I didn't believe her and told her that nothing would cancel that. Then I checked and found it to be true.
That was the day that I quit updating my sports picking website. It still exists as an information site, but I no longer give out the daily predictions and info like I did until 9/11.

I was in 5th grade, on an overnight field trip to a place called the Fort Worth Outdoor Learning Center. I was third in line to go on the zip line, had my harness and everything when our guide got a call on his radio telling him to bring the kids back to the Main House. I asked my friend and he said something about buildings in New York being hit by planes. I thought he was kidding or just heard wrong until I got home. I guess parents freaked out and wanted their kids for some reason. We were more safe out there in the wilderness than at home in the metropolis of Dallas/Fort Worth. But my family went to Red Lobster after they got me from school and I remember the restaurant being empty except for us and the employees were sullen at best. On every tv screen was the CNN coverage of the 9/11 tragedies, replaying over and over again, smokey buildings, running people, it looked like Armageddon. I thought we were going to be bombed or something at first and was really scared until I heard that it was far away...but the fact that Americans were killed deliberately and maliciously by some guys from the Middle East because of their beliefs and organization just pissed me off. I considered joining the military but have since reconsidered and have decided that I can serve my country best by being an active and good citizen in whatever profession I take up.
I don't understand how people can desire to kill others they don't even know because of their beliefs. I also can't understand why during the moment of silence and pledges every morning at school, some people can't show respect for their country, its fallen cititzens, and the serving soldiers by simply standing up, shutting up, and saying the pledge. Some of the kids in my class wouldn't shut the hell up, it's like they didn't even remember what happened to our country. I'm 17 years old, a junior in high school. Plus the people in charge of the announcments didn't even mention the tragedy or those who died because of it.
God Bless all the survivors, all the families of the fallen in combat and in the tragedy itself, and God Bless America.
I know someone's bound to cut me down for my patriotism but I don't care, go to a different country.

I was getting ready for school, and was going to watch something else, but accidentally put on the news. I caught it when the first plane had hit, and saw the 2nd plane hit live. Then I went to school, and nothing went on that day, everyone was just watching the tube.
I was a sophomore in high school.

I wAS gonna ask this the other day! I had just given birth to my first child, and I was up giving him a bottle in the wee hours of the morning in Australia...I remember watching in horror as it all un folded. I think we all sat in front of our tvs for the whole day in disbelief...the thing that sticks in my memory the most is hearing the thud sounds as people were jumping from the buildings. I well up with tears just thinking about it.
