People like feedback from other people. Like, "is this name too far out?" or "Will my child get made fun of because I can't really think of anything bad someone could make fun of about it?" Then someone tells you something you never thought of and you decide... oh no... thank goodness I didn't pick that!

For me, names popped out the minute I saw my pets. It doesn't work that way for others, so they either ask on the 'net or wherever. No one names their kids "Adolf" anymore, but names are a serious thing. What if someone like the name "Jack" but want to honor their grandfather Samuel? Sometimes people are incredibly bored, but most of the time they need help. Either give it to them or ignore the questions.

I asked and yes I really wanted ideas. This was for a "new name" for my cat Scooter a.k.a Mango (thanks to YAHOO ANSWERS). He doesn't response to it but oh well.
I did get a silly name like Nazi kitty. But I also got the Mango idea. It would have been perfect had he been a kitten when I adopted him from my brother.
I won't ask anymore questions like this as I don't plan on getting any more pets..
The asking for children's names really get me. This is your child, why in the heck would you ask strangers. LOL. A pet's name - is different. You can show pictures and stuff. A baby's name well you can't.
So anyways...that's what I think.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Your question is quite silly if I do say so myself.
Some people need suggestions. Some people need to kill time either way it's their right and I personally won't lose sleep at night because of it.
It's YA! it thrives off of questions no matter how many times they're asked. it's not that uncommon
oh yeah and not "everyone" asks those questions anyways.
thanks for generalizing everyone on YA!.

I'm going to take a wild guess here, but I'll bet they want to know what to name their Pet or Baby.

We call our son Boo Boo Bear or Boo Boo or Goo Goo Bear. By the way, I love the name Georgie for a girl. Is that her actual name or is it short for something?

They're trying to get opinions. Maybe some of the names are helpful to them.

I always tell them
When I saw my dog
I yelled
That's Tatum.
Like I was introducing her to someone.
I had never even considered the name Tatum...
But THAT is TATUM.
No doubt...no other name would do.
I do call her Leroy when she's messing up.
'Cause Leroy Brown learned his lesson 'bout messing 'round.
So if she's messing up...she's Leroy.
Most recently Leroy The Birddog Reindeer.

#1. People ask questions like "What can I name my pet?" or "What can I name my baby?" or something eigther because they don't have anything else to do, they just want to, they don't know a name, they need help with a name, they wanna know what people will say, they are trying to find a name for someone else, or etc.. They might really need help and if they can figure out a name then, then they.... I don't know look through some books or something or ask again or someone else or guess or whatever.
#2. Ew! Who would wanna know their... "tolit stuff". Maybe they are just being stupid, trying to gross people out, trynna make people laugh, or etc..
#3. Well,.... The questions I ask are they questions I ask. I don't know if everyone is going to think they're stupid or not, but some I ask in case I wanna know something or etc..
Ok well bye bye. =).
