Well if you class has students who are good at drama and would be willing to script a play then well full steam ahead I say.
My opinion is to create a modified story of Snow White or Cinderella. I am good at drama and directing and have made a modified story of Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk and Aladdin. I can help you with this as well.
You can modify the story so that it is more modernized or more funny. My modifed scripts have been a great hit so I am most willing to help out. Hope I don't sound like I am boasting. Good luck with everything. Happy New Year. :)

the classics tend to be the best... plus when your students go down the road, they can look back and remeber a well known show...

unless you are trained in playmaking or playwriting, go with a scripted show.
