What's with you and the snakes and plumbers thing tonight? I really wish I'd answered that herpetologist Q with a plumbers theme. Just didn't get to the Qs in the right order.

It is not a pipe dream !!! I was a maintenance technician (mechanical) before and I have had done many jobs in factories and office buildings. Apply to join a vocational school teaching plumbing and pipe-fitting .... learn its basics. After completion , join any engineering firm or as a crew member of any factory or any building maintenance services. Perhaps, if you could possibly follow up my suggestion. Best wishes.

I wouldn't throw it out with the bath water just yet..remember, a plumber is the kind of person that can take a leak and fix one too and a good flush beats a full house every time!

It's a sewer out there, my boy. But ... plunge into it with all the gaskets you have. You'll come out the other end a much better man for it -- er, plumber. You'll fit right in.

I'm a pipe layer. I lay pipe for a living. It's not so bad. Going to work naked has its perks.

As with all of the other Trades. You just have to develop a contact in the Union. After that, it's a lead pipe cinch.
