You can try turning off antialiasing and v-sync, they can be resource hogs. Also you may want to lower the shadow quality slightly. You will probably get good results without too much visual degredation. Also make sure that in task manager, that only SYSTEM processes are running, kill the others.

Try adjusting your video options turn off shadding and shadow effects also select best preformance for pc instead of high quality ...dont think those are exact option words but to that extent try that ,other than replacing your graphics card. Also do you get lag on regular game play or playing online?Doing what was suggested above will help for regular game play as for online you isp has a role in that as well.but if your getting that kind of lag on it i would get a better graphics card.Chances are if it came with the system it should be updated i had the same problem on a shooter game i had americas army but when i replaced the graphics card i was lag free and much more enjoyable

Get rid of Vista and get an intel core 2 duo 2.0 ghz and a 256 gb grafics card and a 7200rpm hard drive. Good luck.

Go into the game options and turn down the texture quality and lighting options. Keep turnin stuff down a bit at a time till it works smoothly.

VISTAs' default window theme uses 128MB from our NVIDIA 3D card!!!. So change the default theme to something less RAM costly. so call of duty 4 has more memory to playaround with.. see if this helps..Also as some one else said change graphic settings till you find the best suits to ur laptop
