I have a 95 mitsubishi Eclipse. I heat up the engine pretty well before
i start driving. Still the engine cuts off itslef. Sometimes the
engine cuts off while driving; does not depend how fast i am driving.
Sometimes the engine cuts off even while standing. After the engine stops the
check engine light flickers really fast. I am able to restart the car
in 15 secs-2 mins.I got the new wires and spark plugs 5 days back. I am
tired of this and its really risky because the steering as well the
breaks lock up after the engine stops. Please help. Thank you

If it's a GS with the 420a motor it may be a bad cam sensor. You should have a check engine soon light on. Get it scanned. The steering should not lock unless you take the key out of the ignition and the brakes should not lock either. I'll guess you just mean the steering is harder to turn because the power steering pump is not working and the brakes don't work as well because the power brakes don't work with the motor off either.

Go to an auto parts store or a mechanic have the engine codes scanned. This is why the check engine light comes on and the car shuts off. There is a bad sensor somewhere on the engine.

This is a difficult question because it could be a number of things. Your best bet is to take the car to your local mitsubishi dealer to have a diagnostics test. Another good idea might be to run by your local AutoZone. Most of them check engine codes for free
