I am from Jamaica, when my ancestors were slaves there they made and played their drums to communicate to celebrate and to dance, the white slave masters were afraid then and now their children are. some people are questioning the originallty of kwanzaa, but what about christmas and satan claus, why do people buy toys for their kids and then tell them its satan claus who give them, and they say its holy and kwanzaa is what!! no wonder they are afraid

Majority people are not affraid of Kwanzzaa. If they felt any threat from Kwanzzaa they would be the first to destroy it (have it raided) wire tappings and etc. Kwanzzaa is all good and some people can't stand that, so all they can do is tab into the Kwanzzaa category with the intentions of mocking it. But not all majorities do that. There are some that are really sincere about knowing the true history of it, and I admire them for that. There are a lot of nasty comments about Kwanzzaa posted on a daily basis on Q & A. All other celebrations are very highly respected without any complaints. Check it out.

I am white and I am not afraid of Kwanzaa. I celebrate Christmas, and SANTA clause comes to my house and leaves my children presents. I've never said a negative thing about Kwanzaa. If white people are curiuos about the origins of kwnazaa then you should take the opportunity to educate them.

You sound very defensive, as if you have been offended in some way. Why would you then turn around and dish out insults to Christians by critisizing their beliefs? Shame on you!!

i can't imagine that being a slave owner was something that let you sleep all that well at night. Knowing you had people you were treating that unfairly with access to sharp objects? I'd buy good locks for my bedroom door, I tell you.

As to Kwanzaa? It's no better nor more foolish than any other belief. I am waiting for a Winter festival based on being a good person, because its a good idea to treat others well so they might treat you well too, rather than some odd god told me to.

People are potentially better than that.

wha?????????????????

what is the question?

I'm white and I'm not afraid.

You don't know what you're talking about.

I think I'll make up my own holiday. Yea! I'll call it

tepeekamonga akuga- the festival of nothing.
it will last 3 and a half days.
during those days we will sit quiet and comtemplate
nothingness. The holiday will come around- oh, say...when I feel like it. How's that? and only people who are purple with pink polka dots on their body celebrate it.

Kwanzaa.... I know of no "white people" that are afraid of it. Enjoy your celebration. Why create animosity when none is there?

I am a "white" girl. I am not afraid of Kwanzaa, I actually want to leatn more, but no one in my family is from Africa. My moms best friend and her sons are like cousins, are from Jamaica. I don't see a difference in any type of skin... I hate racist people!

to my knowledge, whites are not afraid of it. most scoff because it is a newly invented holiday by a man who seems to be full of hate. I would scoff a nazi holiday as well.
