Homer never confirmed it nor disapproved it. Love between two men was so common in Ancient Greece that it wouldn't have been seen down upon. Had it been true, I take it Homer would have confirm it. That is my take.

it is reputed
but not actually reported
in the ancient sources
so it's mostly a matter
of what each individual
tends to want to believe
therefore
a reflection on the questioner's thinking
more than on the facts available

why is it so hard for people today, particularly bonehead americans,to understand and accept that two men can make passionate love?a lot of famous men throughout history have been homosexual.achilles was gay and patroclus was his lover.why do you think achilles called hector out after he slew patroclus, then killed him,and dragged his body behind a chariot?

Homosexuality among the ancient Greeks - particularly with young boys or young men - was commonplace. In some of the Greek city states (e.g. Sparta) it was *customary.* Ancient classic poetry is full of homosexual relationships - not only the heroes, but the gods, as well.
