I didn't like the Ed Wade hire but he sure has been busy. Do you think they'll make some noise next season?

The astros are lucky they play in a weak N.L. central or else they would not compete in 08. Sure they got Tejada but Tejada is more on the decline of his career but still none the less effective. The offense is good but not great.

The real problem with the Stros is there Starting Pitching Rotation. After Oswalt, its a joke. Just look at the other 4 projected starters for the astros in 08 stats in 07...

Woody Williams- 8-15, 5.27 ERA, 1.43 WHIP
Wandy Rodriguez- 9-13, 4.58 ERA, 1.32 WHIP
Chris Sampson- 7-8, 4.59 ERA, 1.38 WHIP
Brandon Backe- (was injured last season but these were the numbers he put up as a starter before going to the DL) 3-1, 3.77 ERA, 1.33 WHIP.

I dont think the Astros will be going to the playoffs in 08. I think the Cubs are a better team and if the Reds can trade for Bedard the Reds will be better.

Maybe. But, I think their farm system has taken a hit because Jackie Moore won't be guiding their Triple-A team at Round Rock. He's an amazing man. Ran Round Rock at the Double-A and Triple-A level for many years as a great manager and developer of baseball talent, yet never played one day of pro ball.

No Pitching outside of Oswalt. Elite??? try not even a winning ball club. third place behind the Brewers and the Cubs...maybe a .500 record

not quite. I can see them possibly squeaking into the playoffs, but I don't think they're an elite team just yet. They probably need another year or two. Not a bad team nonetheless.
