Check the windshield...... I would have to agree with the first assessment of the heather core leaking with the exception of the only smell mentioned is that of mold and only after the rain. Also the heater core would leak when the engine was running. These three items along with the mention of the windshield points more toward a bad install and seal leaking. A couple easy ways to rule out the heater core,
1. With a white towel soak up some of the liquid, if it has a green tint it might be anti-freeze. Also anti-freeze has a sweet smell.
2. Check your coolant level, a leak would drain the coolant
3. The automatic car wash idea is good, see if you can lean over to see the water trail with the carpet pulled back.
If it is the window seal take it back where the work was done, they will usually re seal the job for free. This happens more than you think.

Hi Woman,
I think you need to take it back to where you had the windshield installed. I would bet that it isn't sealed properly. After the leak is fixed, hang the carpet over the clothes line and rinse it with a garden hose. On the padded side, be a little gentle as the insulation may come off. Let hang until completely dry, then spray it with Fabreeze or something along those lines. Make sure that the bare floor is dry before reinstalling the carpet.
Now...I think that coolant runs though the heater core all the time on a Dodge, so I think you can ALMOST, MAYBE, rule out a coolant leak.

Likely not the heater core, it would leak and steam up while driving and you can really smell steamy coolant. Likely not a plugged A/C drain as it only happens when it rains. Likely not a windshield seal as the windshield has been replaced and it is doubtful that you would have 2 bad seals in a row. Most likely a bad door seal or if it is an ext-cab, it could even be a bad side window seal. Interior water leaks can wick (travel) through the carpet. Could also be a bad drain from the underhood cowl where the heater draws in outside air.
Good Luck.

You're sure it only happens when it rains? If so, then the following is only advisory.
Check your radiator. Sounds like it *might* be your heater core or the heater control switch.
The heater core is like a small radiator under the dash. When the heater control switch opens, it lets hot water from the motor flow through the radiator. Then a fan blows across it (like a miniature radiator) and the hot air goes inside the passenger compartment to warm you up.
You don't need to be running the heater for this to leak all inside- all it needs is for the heater core to leak or for the heater control valve to fail.
Fixing it is not easy- depending on how much you have to take the dash apart, it might be a coupl of hours, or a couple of days.
These parts fail from time to time. Mostly you don't need to worry about them, but they happen occasionally.
FWIW, I have a '94 Ram 2500 w/Cummins and a 4 x 4 with Gear Vendor overdrive. I love it and haven't had any serious problems except for a quirky fuel gauge.
PS - The A/C will only drip water on the outside, not the inside.

Your drain line to your a/c condensor is stopped up. Somewhere close to the passenger side door just below the fender well, behind the tire is a small drain line, find it and push somehting like a small clothes hanger throught it gently to clear the clear the hose. The a/c is ran when you turn on your defroster to help the motor create hot air faster. This is the reason it alos creates moisture in the winter. This problem is quite common for full size trucks that spend time off road, just find this line and clear it, and keep in mind it needs to stay clean.
Also, if this isn't the problem(which I'll bet it is, then your heater core could be leaking, but then the vehicle would usually overheat and the wet floor board would smell like antifreeze, which you didn't mention.

There are 2 different things you can do.
1: With the carpet and seats removed, and with the help of another person. Have one person inside the truck to look under the dash and at the "A' pillar( might need to take trim piece off), while the other person uses a garden hose to apply water to the windshield and cowl area on that side of the truck.
2: Take the truck back to the glass company, it might be covered under there warranty?

I'm willing to bet that the A/C drainhole is stopped up, or it is coming in through the fresh air intake for the A/C system. This intake is at the bottom of the windshield and supplies fresh air to the HVAC system. Have this checked unless the problem began when the windshield was installed; if thats the case have the windshield seal checked.

Let me guess, You never had this problem before you had your new windshield installed right? It sounds like they got the seal messed up during installation' Try taking some big sheets of paper that will show water spots easily and lay down on the passenger floor up under the dash board as far as you can get them. this may give you some clue to where it's coming from. I hope this can help in some way.

Uh, it's probably your heater core. It's on the passenger side, sort of behind your glovebox. I'm not sure exactly why it does that, but I know it's not exactly a good thing.. I believe I had my heater core replaced because of it. Although, if it only happens when it rains, maybe they didn't put your windshield in right, or the seal is screwed up on it. You might want to go back to the people who replaced your windshield and talk to them about it.

It may be your molding around the new windshield. This can be below or at the dashboard and hard to see. And, when heated and cooled it can expand and contract letting water in. If it only happens when it rains... And your heater still works... It is not the heater core... Also... For reference to you... When running your windshield defroster your a/c compressor runs to remove moisture from the air. You may be able to contact the company that put the windshield in to have them inspect the installation. I hope this helps...
