I was at home preparing for work when the second plane crashed into WTC. I cried for the innocent people that were killed or maimed, and I cursed the unknown terrorists and their supporters.
At the beginning of these attack, before the buildings fell, the media were estimating that each building would usually have between 35,000 to 50,000 workers and visitors per building. They were predicting very high number of casualties. Fortunately, the fire and police departments did their job and was able to evacuate a majority of the occupants. They did they jobs very well, and many paid the ultimate price. These heroes have my utmost respect and sympathies.
I personally do not know anyone who suffered from this attack. But, they were Americans, therefore, they are my brothers and sisters.
If I met the people directly causing this kind of suffering on mankind, I would hope I had a gun. I despise people that hate for the sake of hating. If I could personally met Bin Laden, I would shoot him on sight and not bat an eye or lose any sleep. I would donate the reward money to a humane charity.
The problem I also have with the 9-11 situation is I honestly believe it could have been prevented. I don't believe in paying money for people or countries to be my friend. I believe people should attempt to solve a problem first without violence. If people can not or will not agree to a solution that would benefit both parties, and the other person is definately a threat, terminate the threat with whatever means is necessary and available.
During the Clinton administration, the USS Cole was attacked. Sailors were killed and maimed because of the hate generated attack. The WTC was bombed (I think in '93) and his administration did little or nothing about it. I am not sure if the lack of action was his problem or if it was Congress, or, probably, a combination of both.
There are many methods to fighting a war. Afganistan grows and harvest poppy. Everyone uses this for a varity of drugs. If I was President, I would give Afganistan thirty minutes to remove their terrorists from their country, or else. The solution would be to kill the land from growing anything. Kill the cash flow, and the enemy will be brought to their knees.
Iran and Syria, I would tell them to stay out of the Iraqi Conflict. If they sell or give support of any type to the terrorists, I would take out their military manufacturing plants and their military bases. This would leave them at the mercies of their enemies. And, I would tell China or Russia, or any other country that doesn't agress with our solutions, that they could go have sex with a goat.
I would plan with Israel about how to solve the terrorist problems with their neighbors. The solution would be for the terrorists to lay down their arms and their would be no presecution. If the terrorists want to fight, I would turn the big dogs lose and terminate them, their lifestyle, and their support.
9-11 united the country for awhile, but now with the war, their is massive amounts of finger pointing and contention and lies. It has damaged our belief in our goverment and its leaders.
I sorry for such a long answer, but you asked several questions that tough my heart. I don't believe in retreat. I do believe in accountability.
Have a good day.

Sorry about your friend. As far as I know no one was killed or hurt from the attack. I must say even so, we all ( Americans ) lost someone. That is why it is so personal to me. I hurt at that time and even today for OUR loss.
STAY SAFE!!!

for that one day and a few after it,it didn't matter what race or gender you were, your job, your religion, age, nothing.Everyone became united and opened their arms to each other.Conflicts were forgotten for a brief time.People sometimes forget that.I'm not saying I'm glad 9/11 happened, but it did serve as a wake up call, and that did some good.
