There are 28 schools that you can go to to become a Veterinarian. Most of them have residency requirements (meaning you ahve to be a resident of that state to apply). But you don't go INSTEAD of college -- you go AFTER college. It is a doctorate that requires a BS first.
Vet school is the single hardest graduate program to get into -- much harder than getting into medical school. The link below will give you more information.

To be a vet you need a regular college Bachelor's degree plus higher, vet, training.
For a LOT LESS MONEY and almost as much work on animals, you can become a vet tech at a community college. You go to the community college for about 2 years, getting the vet tech certification, and you can do almost everything the vet does, just not surgery or anesthetic or prescriptions. It's a really good opportunity!

You need to go to college to become a Vet.
You need to do 4 years of Undergraduate majoring in the field of Pre-med/biology.
Then you need to take your MCAT's and apply to Veterinary Schools.
And then I believe it's another 4 years, possibly with 2 more years of residency.
You are looking at 8-10 yrs schooling to become a Vet.
Good luck !

You have to earn your Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. Different vet schools require different things so knowing where you want to go to vet school is important. You can major in things like biology, ecology, wildlife biology, or animal and veterinary science. The link below should help.
