It can be very frustrating to continually strive for something & never reach the goal you are trying to reach. Perhaps it is something that should be looked at & decided if it is a goal you really need to pursue or whether it is worth all the effort.
Some things get passed by when we are too intent on achieving one particular goal...and we may miss something that could be very beautiful or beneficial to us.

This, is the life Rena.

Not a fake one,but a real, generous one which has an objective.
So its not for everyone,i agree.
But,then,i think it is also reasonably possible that few strivings are also, shall we say,'arriving'.
(for when and if they do,there is always the next thing, the next mistake,or the next even greater challenge. We could even say that the long-held american challenge-or Dream-
will thus never be realised by most if not all of the future american people(s)!
But i see no real worry in this-its like a man and woman with a plentiful and self-sustaining life;only neither of them may suddenly get ill health or worse;Even both of them.
What we'all want from our life can and does change,so even the (rather silly)thought of everything,is totally misleading.
Thanks fer asking the question,i hope now some people here will or can 'take a fresh look at their hopes and dreams',(even at this late stage in the year).
And so good wishes for the very near New Year!

That's living, babe -- but not if one strives too much. That's merely ugly, and contortion. Life is an art-form, and all art must come naturally if not easily - otherwise it can be mere posing and pretense, contrivance rather than real art. Art and life is best expressed, I think, in Keat's "And I sang like a carven pipe of music". You can't make a trumpet sound like a harp. So one must work on the instrument, and then make what music one can. It's not competitive athletics. As for arriving? The arrival is simply death, one way or the other. Which is why I favor euthanasia, when life is no longer art.

People in this world are doing the hard struggle for material existance. They work work work for what. it is all an illusin and temporary and full of misery. They don't know the goal or meaning of life. So they never arrive at real happiness. They don't know that -
We are not this material body, IE; Race, color, nationality, Religion, mind, intellect, senses, job, etc. We are all eternal spirit souls, part and parcel of the Supreme Soul, also known as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, etc. We never die, only this mortal body dies. This material world is not our real home, it is called Maya (illusion) and is temporary and full of misery, only one fourth of the souls come here, and the rest are enjoying blissful eternal loving relationships with our Maker named above. We fell here due to envying Gods position. He made the material world for those who want to try to live separately from Him (Which is impossible because He is actually everywhere). After many lifetimes of trying to be happy in this temporary world, one becomes frustrated and board and begins to question their existence. We then seek out real happiness, and when one becomes sincere God reveals how to come back Home. Those who are intelligent, take up the process of self realization (Bhakti Yoga), which begins with the chanting of the Maha Mantra, (the great mantra for deliverance from all suffering and illusion), which gives one real peace, happiness and reality. Then at the end of life, they can give up all material attachments and fully surrender to God and return to the eternal Kingdom, where there is no more birth, death, old age, or disease and be eternally happy. If one is always striving but never arriving that's an indication that the person's thought process is skewed. Either the person doesn't really believe that she is worthy of success, or it only appears that she's working toward her goal, but she's not really, she's sabotaging herself somewhere along the line.

hee hee hee for a moment I thought you could read my mind. Something else I am working on is to enjoy the here and now. At times I can flit from one experience to another with out taking time to linger and see the rewards of what has been or is now. It can make life seem so dificult and the goals so elusive.
