Do you think the U.S. should ban civilian handgun ownership? Taking into account the U.S. has the greatest number of murders by handguns each year.

That's 11,000 plus deaths by handgun murders a year.

It's not the law abiding citizens who own and enjoy firearms that commit crimes. It's criminals who do not obtain them legally that commit crimes. Crime does go down when people are allowed to carry. Perhaps a better answer would be to actually punish criminals for their crimes.

Thank you some of the best chuckles I've had in a long time.... Russian men on the moon?!?!?! Never happened, much lest first! The only men who have been on the moon have been Americans. This quote was priceless "that is honestly the most ridiculous thing ive heard all day lmao. We arent the only country in the world and just because were richer doesnt mean we can own a object that rightfully belongs to the entire universe. ha! We arent the smartest country anymore, asia is. " Asia a country?!?!?!?! I guess we aren't that smart, now are we? When inner space travel becomes common place, we establish lunar bases, and exploit the resources of the moon, it will be no different than the Western Expansion of the 1800's (except no native tribes)... first-come, first-serve and if someone wants to contest property rights, the land will be fought for and defended. When the US landed our 12 astronauts on the lunar surface "we came in peace for all mankind" (Quote - Neil Armstrong, first man to step on the moon) - but chances are mineral rights and such will be contested at some point in the future.

well lets put this into perspective, the United States is also the leading country, statistically speaking, in car wreck fatalities. so are we going to ban the sale and ownership of vehicles? no we are not. it is too big of a business. so should we ban the sale and ownership of handguns? as far as the 2nd Amendment right to own and possess firearms, well that depends on your interpretation iof the amendment. when the framers of the Constitution wrote the Bill of Rights, it was during a time in which there wasnt a highly structured and organized military. the responsibility of protecting the states fell to every man in every community in every state to be ready at a minute's notice to bring thier guns to the area of attack and to protect their community, state, territory. as far as specific ownership of handguns to civilians, or citizens, that remains to be seen by the decision of the United States Supreme Court in the case that they are hearing this next year.

i think that anyone responsible should own a handgun as long as they possess the responsible nature and exibit the discipline that is inherent to own one. you should be knowlegeable in the use and safety and teach those safety procedures to any children that you might have that could possibly come in contact with the gun.

i do not recall hearing about any over-abundance of death by weapons in the early days unless it was during criminal activity, and then i dont think it was that great of a number. i know that i never heard of an accidental shooting during the days where everyone had guns.

I think a lawful citizen should be able to carry a concealed handgun EVERYWHERE unless everyone entering an area is searched for weapons and checks weapons at the door (such as a courtroom)

there is a reason all of these mass killings happen in Schools, Churches, and Malls.

They are all places where the State has disarmed the victims.

If you are trained and law abiding you should be allowed to carry everywhere.

In favor.
It has been shown to reduce violent crime everywhere
'right to carry` laws have been instituted.
Those who oppose it really have no factual leg to stand
on, and depend on 'everybody knows they're dangerous ` type
emotional appeals that have been proven wrong.
