I give small amounts of money to several charities/good causes on a regular basis. I live in the UK....as you may know. I currently donate to Oxfam, the NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children), the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity in London, and Macmillan Cancer Care. I have also made donations to the RSPCA in the past. I must admit, I am not very big on giving my *time* to charitable causes....maybe I should think about changing that!

I work at a local hospital that treats people who have limited income. I enjoy it, but do get upset when illegal immigrants come in and get free treatment and free delivery on their babies. But I still think it is a worthy cause, because they also help those who are American, but have low paying jobs.

I won't ever give to charity because most of it goes to the managers salaries. I have personally seen money wasted and refuse to do that ever again. I will give to whoever I see in need, but only one on one. When someone wants a free handout to eat, I buy them a meal, I won't give them money for drugs or alcohol.
There is a website that tells which charity uses their money wisely. Worth looking at...check your search engine for website, as I have misplaced mine.
I used to let people with no place to sleep use my bedrooms, and that was a great experience. I did it as a ministry for God, so it was never a danger. I got so much more out of it than they did, and when a couple took advantage of me, it was OK, because they had to live with themselves. It was one of the best things I ever did, because I could model helping by helping.

Public Television. They bring important television, both locally and globally. If you have children, take note of things like Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers, as well as Clifford the Big Red Dog, Magic Schoolbus, and Curious George. If you liked any of those shows as a kid, or have a child who likes them, consider it an investment in the future. ^.^
