Don Cheadle's role in Hotel Rwanda
Clive Owen's role in Children of Men
Bruce Willis' role in the Die Hard franchise
Basically any actor who embraces a role and brings their character to life and allows us to feel what that character is feeling is pretty heroic to me.

Fred Zinnemann's A Man for All Seasons with the brilliant Paul Scofield in the title role.

Sir Thomas More is a major hero to me--a man of conscience, rare in any age. As I have an inexplicable fondness for Henry VIII (I'm not being sarcastic) I find it beyond tragic that he executed the best friend he could ever have. Sir Thomas was such a genius, a righteous man, an extraordinary figure who in the face of his family's pleas to live and his friends misguided attempts to get him to violate his conscience stood fast to what is right. "I am commanded by the king to be brief, and since I am the king's obedient subject, brief I will be. I die His Majesty's good servant, but God's first."
