I cant remember the name of this movie about a pickup truck that kills people and goes underground when being chase by the cops and no one knows who drives it.

...as far a being a pick-up truck, could you possibly be thinking of one of the segments in 1983 horror anthology, "Nightmares"??? In the second to the last segment, there was a demonic jet black pick-up truck, which at a certain point in the segment, actually reared up and blasted out of the ground...

Are you talking about "The Car?"
It is about this mysterious, black car that comes out of the wilderness. It comes into a small desert town out West...maybe in Arizona or California...and it runs over innocent people.
But it is bizarre- no one knows who or what is driving the Car. It is black, and has a very ferocious sounding, roaring engine.
James Brolin plays a big part in the movie. He was in the film "The Amityville Horror" (1979?).
