I did a cursory search because I am a font collector -- damn, I didn't realize fonts could get so expenseee!!
But back on topic, your best bet is to do a search (admittedly tedious) through the many free font databases available online. Someone, somewhere, will have ripped off Avenir and will have it under their own name - perhaps some variation on the original.

Avenir is a copyrighted font which you can buy from here:
http://www.linotype.com/72/avenir-family.html
Although you cannot download Avenir for free, there are a few quality free fonts very close to Avenir that can substitute it:

You can't unless you pirated it. It's Intellectual property owned by Monotype Imaging. Which owns Linotype.
That's like asking where you can get a free copy of Microsoft Office or Call of Duty. It's all software and all copyrighted and trademarked.
Free fonts are bunk. Just go to fonts.com, myfonts.com or Linotype if you want commercial quality non ripped off fonts.
Just make sure you buy it under the correct license for your use. Nothing like going to court and telling a judge you can't pay the $XX,XXX you are being sued breached you didn't read what you bought and breached a contract

I think is ridiculous to charge 300+ dollars for a font family... but even more ridiculous is to answer a question on a forum such as this with morals as your banner like "Avenir is a copyrighted font which you can buy from here..." or even worse "You can't unless you pirated it. It's Intellectual property owned by Monotype Imaging. Which owns Linotype.
That's like asking where you can get a free copy of Microsoft Office or Call of Duty. It's all software and all copyrighted and trademarked."
Who the **** cares if it's copy righted or trademarked that wasn't the question, the question was "Where can she download it FOR FREE" you ******* hypocrites (you know who you are).
