I have a Brinks lock that someone else changed the combination on then forgot it, it's one of the ones that have a seperate dial for each number in the combination (IE if the combination was 1-2-3-4 you would set the first dial to 1, the second to 2, and so on). How can you find the combination to these? Or does anyone know of any demonstration videos?

The lock isn't on anything, so I don't want to cut it. I want to be able to open it so I can use it.

I agree with the others, take it to a qualified Locksmith! We spend thousands of dollars for schooling every year so we can provide you with the best, top quality lock repair available.

If its just a 4 digit combination, you can brute force try each number (try a little each day or something) and you should eventually open it. Not the easiest approach, since there are 10000 combinations, but you'll eventually find it ;p

Bolt cutters (the master key) work too...

Other than that, not sure =)

set the first 3 dials to 1, then slowly rotate the last one, if that doesn't work, change the 3rd one to 2, then rotate the 4th one again, keep trying until it works

Call a locksmith.

They have years of training and experience dealing with locksets like those. The idea that you can just pick up a skilled trade and easily do it is a little unrealistic.

i would start with 1111, then 1112 then 1113 etc. til you hit it. hopefully it will be a low number.
