how do i get back my wifi signal strength on my desk top?

i accidently took off the wifi strength bar off my desktop..i really need it since i rely on pc across the country. i have no idea how to get it back..also i'm not a pc savy person- i need step by step directions. thanks

click on the start button,click run,type in msconfig,go to start and fin the wifi program,click enable,apply,then ok and restart the computer
