EMO QUESTIoN!?

What is this EMO I am hearing about all over the web, and at schools?
How do these kids dress, act, and do in there spare time?

if there are any "EMOS" AROUND YAHOO PLEASE HELP TO ANSWER THIS TOO!

Emo is just a label like so many other labels in life. Like all things there is a continuum of expressiveness in the emo and gothic cultures, some go to extremes, others just identify with certain aspects of the cultural grouping.

I like Goth music, but I am not an emo nor a goth. I don't dress in black etc. I think I prefer emos to some other groupings, say those of the skin heads culture who adopt racism and like violence.

Each to their own. I can identify with sadness in youth. Not everyone has an easy path in life, and difficult paths are hard to reconcile by those who pleasingly don't know them.

Looking at some of the answers you have received I am amazed at how little people understand, or try to understand the emo culture. To limit your understanding to black and cutting is to fail to understand the whole. We should never mock sadness and depression, after all none of us know when those emotions might take a controlling influence in our own lives.

It will be interesting to see how each emo matures one day and how the culture evolves.

The music, emo and goth, is well worth listening, like most music there is good and bad.

The "emo" kids dress usually darker, but this is very generalized. They act like normal kids, but can be a little more emotional, hence the name "emo". I don't think the emo kids can be generalized and stereotyped because they all don't do the same things. They aren't all that different from other kids. Some view them as more extreme and emotional. I think they are just less edited.

i'm emo/goth confident there's a distinction and that i'm a mix of the two... My dad calls me emish, i'm waiting for that to seize on haha... Emos are great the form rocks alongside with the flavor in track and clearly emo is created by utilising stressful lives or pasts in spite of if, this does not recommend we are constantly unhappy and depressed we do smile!!

3.They wear tight pants and a lot of black.
4. Most emo ppl are bisexual.

Edit: They dress simi unisexual...tight pants on guys...the fact that they are bi is more obvious in some emo ppl than others! (not all emo kids are bi!)

Okay first of all don't listen to most of the people. Take it from me who know emo's and can be one at times.

Emo is a genre of music. It is also a style long after the music was created. This style is scene for most girls and emo for boys (or girls). THEY DO NOT CUT THEMSELVES OR DEPRESS ABOUT LIFE OR ARE JUST TO EMOTIONAL OR BI OR LEZ. these are just stereotypes that are MOSTLY un-true! Emo is short for emotional for its dark, emotional and depressing music lyrics. Again, emo is a label that isn't true most of the time. It's a music genre.

EMO, stands for Emocional. Those people dress in all black, kinda rebel-ish. Most people believe that they cut themselves in spare time. Enjoys pain. I cant really point out how they act like....i guess the best word is "weird", no offence.

Emo is one way kids express themselves, by cutting themselves or by music. Kids think it is in style to be emo because it is cool and hip. Another reason is because kids don't really have to hide their hard core rocker feelings. Emo is just a label. It stands for emotional. They wear black or deprssing clothes and they usually hvae black makeup on. they wear skater shoes or vans and they usually have died hair in shades of red, black, or purple. they were skinny jeans and listen to rock bands. they look very depressed. they cut their wrists to deal with depression, they are shy, and they usually dont have friends or try to make them. in their spare time they supposedly write sad poetry. I think all of this is in their imagination and they are not actually emo because that is nothing other than a label. If your considering being emo you better stop cuz its not a cool thing.
