Give it a through tune-up (Plugs, wires, cap and buttion), change all the fluids to fresh fluids, Change your ait and fuel filter, advance your igniton timing about 2* from stock and use high octain fuel, remove your intake resonator.

Any quality modifications fast that will cast upwards of $200 or more.

The first modifications I would recomend past that is a Intake, header, and catback exhaust, possibly a high flot cataletic converter, ground cable set, etc.

After that the next step is internals and intake mainifold and TB.

Well some simple mods are short ram intake availble on Ebay from various sellers. Also some Bosch +2 platinum plugs and wires(bout $100). A low back pressure muffler will also aid(50 or so dollars). And the most important: add 3 ounces of Pure Acetone per 10 gallons for increased efficiency and mileage (Wal Mart) (vastly improved throttle response)($12). Also 1 ounce of Xylene at Home Depot per 10 gallons, mild octane enhancer and prevents acetone evaporazation($15). Good luck~

It takes either cubic inches (which you do not have) or rectangular bucks to make horse power.
I have read the figure at 17.00 per horse power gain. That figure is out dated. So I am sure it is more now. The writer used it as a yard stick for cost effectiveness of investment worth. In your case it should give you an idea of how much it will cost you to run with the bigger dogs.
There is just no way around it, horse power costs to get and maintain.

Exhausts can increase horsepower a little. You can get high octane fluids to put into your fuel tank. They are being sold at places like Big W.
