You're right. I think Yahoo gave us our own little category, thinking all we'd be talking about over here is Ben Gay, denture paste, bingo, support hose, Depends and incontinence, Social Security, Lawrence Welk, crossword puzzles, Viagra and vitamin supplements, hearing loss, knitting and crocheting, hemorrhoid ointments, etc.
They thought we'd be so sweet and endearing, and no bother at all.
SURPRISE!!!

I don't think there is a proper question for the Seniors category, unless it is a question actually directed to those who would be the most interested. I am a senior, and I answer questions in a lot of categories, because I am interested in a lot of things.
Just because we are Seniors, does not mean that we are ONLY interested in senior questions. We may be getting older, but most of us are still vitally interested in life and what is going on in the world, and we like lots of questions and answers on a variety of topics.
Besides, there are many people who come here who are not seniors., and I think they would soon get tired of us if all they saw were questions about social security and old age aches and pains, lol!

JuJu: You came back!!! YAY. Some questions I
feel are very inappropriate are:
1. How does it feel to be close to dieing?
2. Why don't you get more Social Security?
3. Why won't they let us put the dead elders in
the dumpster?
4. How do you stop the old lady from peeing in
your car?
5. So she can't think or talk, what should I do with
her.
6. Who is going to pay for her funeral.
7. Remember when? Remember when?
Are your SURE you can still remember when?

Funny you should ask that. I was thinking the same thing after answering the last question about wrong categories. I can't wait to hear what "proper" questions are. LOL
Can you name a store that is "seniors" friendly?
Do you eat off the seniors menu, if they have one, when you go out to eat ?
What are some ways to relieve arthritis in your ankles or shoulders?
Where have you discovered hair growing that wasn't there before? LOL

It seems to me that the Y!A categories are a blended list of topics and characteristics/demographics with the same rules applying to all.
"Seniors" is a characteristic or demographic as opposed to a topic. "Movies" or "Music" are topics, and questions on those sites are topic oriented. Most questioners would not seek out a movie buff to address favorite foods.
Questions in "Seniors" can not be restricted to the topic of aging, otherwise this site would not be a regular stop for anyone. I like to know what people with similar "mature" characteristics as "Seniors" think about a variety of stuff, not simply the topic of getting old.

as i have said in the past there is no real true question one could come up == myself i may answer 1/2 or 1% of the questions posted in this section -- not that i do not enjoy all types of questions i am just to lazy to chime in and agree with the question or to say a joke was funny -- or add to the weather report!!!!
i will add this == every once in a blue moon some one will ask a question that really deseaves a good answer and i see all kinds of wrong ones and think -- why did they not post it in the finance section or auto section - where they would get better answers -- but instead of getting involved i just let it pass!!!

Maybe people are expecting for all questions to be about Depends , Poli-Grip ,stool softeners , bran muffins , medical alert , bingo , walking sticks , wheelchairs ect... I've had answers asking why I posted in " the seniors catagory "....Oh well what can ya do ?

Well, the proper ones contain pefect spelling, grammar and overall correct usage of the English language and are very prim and deal with such things as etiquette, treatment of estate staff. Generally asked by an elite group. --- Hence proper questions are very few and far between in this category.

I think any question that seniors can relate to, be it health care issues, to favorite classic TV programs, to social security concerns, to your grand kids antics, etc., are appropriate. And that does include the occasional joke to make us chuckle every now & then. I hope the intent of this category wasn't for "seniors" to post q&a's on what brand of walker is best and how to concel liver spots!
By the way, I'm making a holiday punch for tonight and need a good recipe that has metamucill as an ingredient . . . does anyone have one? LOL . . .

I recently just started coming to the senior category solely because of it having a more intelligent group . Tired of the inane teen questions " am I fat" , "should I loose weight" honey just look in the mirror. If your belly and boobs kinda blend together they ya you should drop a few pounds...if you are comfortable that way then don't worry about it. I am having fun here in seniors and haven't seen too many questions that were not proper.
