Gypsy moth(Lymantria dispar) has been described in the test books of genetics, as an example of gynandromorphism in connection with the theories of Sex determination. The one that describes the theory of Goldschmidt talks about how a gynandromorph can arise.It says that gynandromorphs arise due to equal proportion of male and female hormones being produced during embryonic development. This gypsy moth has one lateral half like one parent and the other half as another parent.

because by definition they have both male and female characteristics. it can be one side female and one side male, or the two sexes may not be defined as clearly
