Most people that want to get into acting in films and movies have their eyes set on the fame and glamour that the really successful people have. Keep in mind that this is only a small percentage of the entire acting population. Your mother is right, in this business, you will experience a lot of rejection. It is best to know that it is really what you want to do before you get into anything really serious.
I would suggest signing up for some acting classes. Even trying out for school plays. Or even community theatre, just do get a feel for what it is like. If you like it, you can work your way up, and you may even be spotted. Remember, we all have to start somewhere! Even some of Hollywood's most successful actors and actresses were just normal people trying to scrape together a living at some point!

If you are under 18, you have to have at least one parent helping you because of labor laws. You do have to talk to her. But there are no auditions for inexperienced and untrained people. You have to get into your school theatre and take some acting lessons. All these web sites are mostly scams. Watch out. They only want your money and they cannot help you.

Hi, I use to have the same problem with my mom. She tell me that it was the most difficult profession to get in to, but i said to her that I didn't care that I want to do this more than anything and she said OK. SO the best thing is to talk to your mom, because you will never now what she really thinks unless you tell her.

There are auditions for plays and local commercial everywhere, but you generally have to be 18, otherwise you need a full time parent with transportatoin and a work permit if required.
You need an 8x10 head shot and you need to sumbit to ad agencies and commericla photographers.
For TV and movie work, you have to be able to come to Los Angeles, have a parent full time, transporation, head shot, they want to see a resume with your work and a demo reel if you have one. You also will need to have $2,500 ready to buy your union card if you get a speaking part. One payment, certified check.

am a casting director and I'll tell you what you need to become an successful actor or actress in 5 steps:
1. you don't need a Diploma or a degree in acting to become an successful actor/ actress.
2. make sure you get a degree in something other then acting just to be on the safe side. if you don't have any success in acting then you can go back to your degree and get a good payed job.
3. Agents play a big part in an actor's world. make sure you ask around and get a good agent.
4. if you move to Los Angeles it increases your chances of being a successful actor/ actress.
5. in an audition be yourself and don't act like something your not. we only look for people that have confidence in what their doing.
let me tell you something as a friend show business is a very mean business. the casting directors will call you names and take piss out of you but don't say anything back because they just want to see how you react to what they call you. Good Luck.

If you want auditions there are lots of sites to go to. The best site is starnow.com and about the mom thing, just tell her that its YOUR life. I hope that helps :)
