alright, most people in here are very lowly educated... so i will enlighten you with my knowledge, which has been passed down from mac nerd to mac nerd to eventually me... this is what i do know.
pc platfroms are based on self-executable files. this means that any file can start up on its own, download anything it wants... and basically every file is allowed to have a mind of its own. (this is one major problem with pcs). when you download a virus, whether you know it or not, it has the ability to spread either when it gets on your computer (meaning automatically... no hesitation), or the programer made it spread when you opened that particular file. also, they made the os this way so people can have the "automatic updates" which are total bs. you never know when it has updated (since it doesnt tell you), and when it does update, it sometimes will mess with some of your files, and/or progrtams. now, beware that no anti-virus garuntees you safety. paid-protection cheats you... literally. they dont scan your computer until you tell them to, which means that after you get the virus you will findd it... not finding out the file you are downloading is virus... it just doesnt work that way. the only virus software that does this are the free ones like avg and avast!, which are extremely exceptionably great programs for being free. they also top the amount of downloadds and positive feedback than the paid protection software as well. now, you also have those firewalls, which dont do anything (really). they block an entire program, or allow it full access... no in between at all, what so ever. if you want to be safe on your pc, you better be a really good programmer with hacker's knowledge in order to ensure your complete safety. plus you need to stay updated on hacking software and how they work... therefore you will be even more safe. all in all, once someone gets on your computer, they can screw you over in a second.
now macs are a different story. they are unix based... which is total opposite from pcs. every time a new update occurs, you are prompted, asked for the admin password, and given choices for installation. pc's skip two thirds of that.when a virus gets on a mac (if one ever does) it is contained to only the file/folder it was put into. it is secluded (so to speak) from the rest of your files, programs, and especially your os. in order for your os to go bust, the hacker has to gain access to all your files (which isnt that hard, but needs plenty of experience), get into your harddrive settings (another complicated thing in itself), then the person has to mess with every single file for it to stop working. with unix basing, things cant spread on their own. plus, what hacker would want to get into your entire computer and plant a bug into thousands of files? only one with the world to spare, and you in mind for some odd reason. plus, a virus hasnt been made for macs in over three years now, so you are safe.
as for prices, you can make macs cheap, they are made mainly for media editing. that is their main purpose, and you cant really make them into gaming machines. now, you can put leopard osx onto your mac, use bootcamp, and run games on it through the windows os (which you have to install), but then you really are using a windows... see what i mean. plus, macs are made to be perofrmance from the start. they dont have anything low-end when you buy the cheaper ones. the cheapest i know of is the imac (now mini macs are different... i dont remember if they are cheaper though) and they start at like $1200... blame my memory if i am wrong. also, they are loaded with enough ram, processor speed, and haddrive space to do anything that the every day user will use, and then some. stock macs are very excellent machines, and should not be criticized for their high prices (as they have a reason for the price). plus, wouldnt you pay more to get a computer that doesnt get viruses and all that junk? i know i would. also, most pc software isnt designed to do all the things you can do on mac software. i know that in order to do the things you can do on top of the line macs for media editing, you need around five, six, or seven buggy programs on a pc... and thats no joke. plus you deal with different file types sometimes, and then converting, and switching programs, loading files... its a lot longer to do this stuff on pc. macs are best for media.

Keep this in mind. Feature for feature, mac's can actually be less expensive. A stock mac comes pretty loaded compared to cheap PC's. By the time you load up a PC, you can be more expensive than a mac.
Spyware shouldn't have anything to do with a platform decision. I switched to a mac over 2 years ago and will never go back to a pc.
Mac's make sense!
PC's make problems!

PC's- aren't that (dat?? 1 more letter how hard is that?) expensive they do get spyware and virsuse (easily removed with antivirus software)
MAC's- Not that expensive (both Mac's and a GOOD PCthat will do the editing and all that a MAC will, will cost you aroung $1000.00) . MAC's hardly ever get virsus or spyware.
So, yes you are almost correct!!

mmm, apples are yummy.
in the long run, macs are worth the money cus they are a lot harder to break.
Macs don't come with junk trial software that pcs do. You'll spend less time on tech-support.
There are better programs than windows programs for macs.
In the end, a PC is the more expensive choice, what with the calls to tech-support, the antivirus programs, and maybe even having to replace your hardrive.
In the end, if you are a normal person who uses the computer for both work and play, use the mac.

If you are an intermediate user or would like something simple and user friendly, go with the Mac. If you would like to actually use ur computer, and know what ur doing, go with a PC. Mac constricts u from everything...

PCs are way better! Just install an antivirus if you are really concerned on your PC (I recommend ESET NOD32).
