Human rights violations, by whoever and wherever commited should be the concern of each and every civilised person. And yet the silence in respect of the war resulting in death and maiming of thousands of innocent civilians in Srilanka is deafening ? Highways have been closed by the military thereby depriving lakhs of innocent people food and medicine.Women, children, sick and aged have particularly been the targets.Millions have fled the country of their birth and seek shelter in other countries as refugees. And not all of
them are treated with the sympathy or respect they deserve.
The West responded to the cries of Jews and Israel was created for them. Plebiscite was conducted in EastTimor by the United Nations and the army of Indonesia retreated to its barracks. Yer, strangely, despite the harrowing and indescribeably tragedies of Srilanka, internatioonal organisations tend to look the other way around. Why ?

You have a strange way of looking at things
through some sort of colored glasses. Are you blaming the legitimate government of Sri Lanka
or the LTTE for the genocide. If,as I surmise,it
is the former then I must say that your sympathies are misplaced. The LTTE has been
branded as a terrorist organisation by the world. Also no legitimate government will tolerate secession by a section of people who
wish to lay the law to them.Comprisons are
odious. Each case has its own merits. No two
cases can be viewed in the same way.

Human Supremacist beliefs which are everybody, everything, everybeing for profit. As long as beliefs maintained not officialy repudiated taught as wrong genocide will continue. There are people at United Nations that hold Human Supremacist attituides. To prevent more deaths a campaign more vast than even Amnesty International can require is necessary though many voices have not been heard when contacting U.N. If people do like International Amnesty chipping water on stone fast with contacts of billions of people maybe world will take notice. All demanding Human Supremacist notions be rejected that The United Nations end them everywhere for reason genocide part of Supremacy as well as Global Warming offensive as it may seem to suggest that all can be placed at door of Human Supremacist Notions which are everything for human profit

Is it the responsiblity of the West to solve this problem? What about China? What about Russia? What about the mid-East countries? Why do people always look to the West to solve problems? No one helped the USA with ANY of our earthquake disasters in California. No one helped the USA with our power outages for the last 4 weeks in the coldest freezes of the year. No one helped the after Hurricane Katrina or Hurricane Rita . . . solve your own problems. Go the UN, go to any number of other organizations. We give help but are still hated in most of the world. What motivation do we have to spend our tax dollars on YOU? We aren't even taking care of our own homeless people, we aren't even educating our own children properly, and we aren't even providing healthcare to 1/3 of the people that live here . . . go knock on someone else's door with your hand out.

Besides that, we are already taking care of 20 million people that are not our citizens and do NOT contribute to our economy, our security, and our way of life.

No one is blind to these terrible atrocities. We can't police the whole world all at once. Genocide has been going on for centuries and will continue. We do what we can and when. All we can do is try and keep trying at great cost of money and human life. I think it has been proven we cannot effectively fight terrorists.... wars have rules but terrorists have their own rules based on their own wacko beliefs. Trust me, this news makes everyone heartsick too...but you cannot say we are "blind and mute." Not fair and you are pointing your finger at the wrong side.

The West and Amnesty International are blind and mute to the genocide in Sri Lanka because they do not get much benefits from Sri Lanka for their interests.

I will tell you to blame it on the news media. They "target" their audiences and "give" them the news they want to hear. Quite frankly, it's a matter of race. No one seemed to care when it was Idi Amin. Nor did they take note when it was Cambodia and the Khmer rouge. Reason: Their skin wasn't white enough. Did they notice in Bosnia? You bet! Why? Because they are fair skinned. No one cared when it was the Indians of Mexico -- their skin wasn't white enough. It only becomes a cause celeb when the AP flashes it around the world.
