Can't say I've ever seen that exact spelling, but Thomasina would have been an interesting name -- far more intriguing than predictable Megan, lovely as it is ;) -- and it seems from your own "funky" attitude that spunky nickname Tamzen/Tamzin/Tamsin (likely the Z forms, given Tomazina) would have suited you wonderfully! ;)
So no. I don't think you should be glad they changed their minds. Instead, I'd ask Dad why he didn't grow a pair and go with the great unexpected option! LOL Okay, perhaps I wouldn't go that far, but I WOULD wonder. ;) And I'm certain you would have pulled off Tomazina beautifully!

Yeah, i remember that movie. They named the cat Thomas, but then found out she was a girl, so they changed her name to Thomasina (the femine form of Thomas). It is a pretty name, but there's nothing wrong with your name. I like Megan Elizabeth. But if you like Thomasina/Tomazina, you could always use it as a nickname or a screen name.

Well, my Dad wanted to call me Lockland for crying out loud! Personally, I think Tomazina is worse. Megan Elizabeth is way better!

Thomasina (Tomazina) is a beautiful name - hasn't been "used" in many years, last I heard it was when I was a little kid. I love your name Megan Elizabeth - very pretty, very classic name.
If you truly wish to change your name, once you're an adult, go for it. In my opinion, they are both lovely.
Blessings

maybe you like it now, but i don't think you'd like it at 5. or at 50, for that matter. I knew a girl named Thomasina, it kind of worked, but idk if id like it for myself. I'd be grateful to your dad.......
