1. TV has to maintain an element of 'not-real-ness', therefore some everyday things are cut out
2. It wouldn't be very nice to watch
3. It's an everyday thing that people would rather do in private
4. Not that many do IRL
5. To portray the stereotype that men don't take as good care of themselves as women do... indirectly speaking!

It is not attractive but the five minuet shots of someone putting a needle in their arm somehow is.
Besides men are in charge of most productions so women are the main focus with ocasional chest shots of men to hold women viewers attentions.

You really don't see women cutting their nails on Tv as well. In fact I would find it kinda of Freakish.
