when your young everything is new, there are so much to discover about yourself and your surroundings.
Since everything is new to you, the day feels really long because your trying so hard to understand and process everything. Kinda like the first day of school seems the longest, until later in the year routines and habits are developed, and everything feels fast.

When your older, their isn't as much discoveries, your already familiar with all kinds of scenarios. furthermore there are so much memories accumulated over the years.

Also your over conscious about everything you do, or see.

When you are a child impatience and boredom happen more often because you are absorbing things at a faster rate. Then, when you are older, you have more routine things going on and usually less new information to absorb. It all begins to blur together...
That's the closest I have to a theory.

It's all relative to how long you've been alive, since that's your only reference point for measuring how quickly time "feels" like it is going by. When you are one-year old, one week equals 1/52 of your entire lifetime, or about 2%. When you are 50 years old, one week is only about .04% of your life. Therefore time feels like its going by around 50 times faster (.04% x 50 = 2%) when you're 50 compared to when you are 1. At least that's my theory...

Because when you're a child, you're open to everything, and everything is new. When you're an adult, your life is full, and you have to make room for anything new.
