16 <-- number of protons

33= number of neutrons and protons. since we know the number of protons (16),
33-16= 17 neutrons [Answer: D]

why dun see what u are looking at ? different symbols have its own meaning.
Answer may be 33 electrons or 33 protons or whatever.
