There are many many many different fertility drugs. Clomid is the most common and OBs give it out like it is candy. Clomid strengthens ovulation and can help mature more than one follicle.

When taking Clomid, your chances of conceiving twins is about 10%, that's up from about 1-3% normally.

It is VERY IMPORTANT to be monitored properly when on Clomid. First, if you are a very high responder, it would be irresponsible to try to conceive with many mature follicles, as there is the risk of high order multiples. Fertility specialists monitor their patients on Clomid closely, but many OBs do not. Clomid can thin your uterine lining, and it can also contribute to cysts. Clomid can be a "wonder drug" to many women, but it is a powerful drug to be managed properly.

If you don't respond to Clomid, there are other alternatives. There are many many may different kinds of injectible medications also.

Before any fertility treatment or medications, there are a series of tests to help diagnose the cause of fertility trouble.

In my case I had a m/c in May of this year and a very irregular period history (unless I was on BC) I know I ovulate when I do have a period b.c I did the temp charting thing before going to a RE. With my history and all he did a blood test and an ultrasound looked at my med records from my OB and decided to put me on hormone injections. My pituitary doesn't produce enough of the necessary hormone to mature eggs so thus I would have constantly had m/c if I could conceive. I was put on Gonal-F and Ovidrel which are injectable hormones and after three months (one on the meds one back on BC and then this last month back on meds) we have been successful. So there is hope. My RE actually started me on the hormes immediatley!!! Good luck to you !!
