According to Romans 13, Joseph and Mary should have been obeying the law of the land. That is what they did. Now you should not be supporting sedition against the law of the land.
Breaking the law isn't liberal or conservative, its just wrong. It's a good thing you don't belong to a church or speak for one. You could get them in trouble.
Frodo, sometimes we close the border, to keep death out.
It’s not even 2008 yet and your using your supposed religion to get out your politics. Politics is really your first religion. You’ve shown everyone over and over that you can’t stand the U.S. so why not just retire someplace like Australia or a crater on the moon (hehehe, where you told someone else to run away).
Let me guess who the best answerer will be. Bet it’s the one who shares your politics.
I wonder how many of these families you are personally willing to totally support. The truthful answer is none. If you were responsible for the total financial support of even one family, bet you'd be whining another story. My friend says that hypocritical.
Smile, Chavez loves you!

No, Mary and Joseph went from one part of their country (Judea) to another part of the same country. That doesn't make them illegal aliens anymore than an American family going from New York City to Philadelphia.

They seem like good people. They probably would have come here legally. Jesus himself stressed the importance of following the laws of the land.
btw, they were not refugees, they were summoned so that a census could be conducted. (again, following the law)

Mary was due to give birth, she and her husband Joseph traveled from their home in Nazareth about 150 kilometers (90 miles) south to Joseph's ancestral home, Bethlehem, in order to register in a census ordered by Emperor Augustus, the Census of Quirinius. (Gospel of Luke)
No, because Joseph was returning to his ancestral home to register. That makes Joseph, Mary and Jesus legal.

Its pretty much been spelled out for you but I would add that there is a good reason why we have a cap of immigrents into our country.
If we didn't then we would easily become overpopulated. When we bring immigrents in we introduce them to programs to help them get on their feet (and numerous grants, etc). If we allowed no cap n the number coming in then we would quickly run out of these programs and our country wouldn't be any better a haven for them than their own.
Also there were a lot less immigrents in Jesus' time than now. So the logistics are hardly the same.

I have an idea: read what the Bible says about Mary and Joseph. They WERE married; Joseph was middle-aged! As to the so-called law allowing only 1,000 refugees: How did we wind up with 13,000,000 Illegals in our country?
If you read the Gospels (you know, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John), there is absolutely nothing to indicate that any wrongdoing of any sort was done by Mary and Joseph.

A. - There are numerous exceptions to that law . ...... re: One foot on land etc ???
B. - Then you mistakenly get into the issue that Jesus' family was seeking asylum from a decree or face the death of their first-born....... census call or not.
C. - The U.S. easily grants asylum in those cases and is yet another example of why the 1000 'limit' is nowhere near accurate .
D. - Then, oh my, THEN you leave yourself wide-open by omitting the fact that if Mary and Joseph came here, legally or illegally, then we would gladly PAY for Jesus' birth costs and certainly the hospital would be much safer haven than a stable/barn .
Deep question though !!
