I know many adults (even seniors!) who still love their dolls. One friend has a little doll shop. She has bragged about all the "who's who" doll collectors that frequent her store and buy beautiful collector dolls and dress them and show them prominantly in their homes.
If a girl likes to play with dolls, it's healthy and productive at any age, since it provides an outlet to play out various situations with the dolls. This could prove very helpful in relieving alot of life's stressful situations.
It sounds like you are a very loving and concerned mom, and that's great!
I say let your daughter enjoy her dolls!

I played with dolls til I was about 11 too. Most of the kids I've ever met have played with dolls till around that age.

I don't think there's an inapproiate age to stop playing with dolls. I'm 40 and I still play with dolls with my little girl. It's fun and sometimes a great reliever of stress. No harm done. Dolls are fun. Besides, they're little for such a short time, if she wants to play with dolls into her teen years, I see nothing wrong with it. 2D

I think "playing" with dolls has kind of been reinvented since the American Girl Doll here in the US. I know 60 year old women that buy and dress these things.

She should be able to play with dolls until she loses interest in them. Some girls never do, and start collecting the fancy ones. I think I was around 10 or 11 when I didn't care about my "barbies" anymore.

i don't think that's strange. i stopped playing with them when i got bored with them. then i just ended up cutting their hair (i'm obsessed with styling and cutting hair, always have been) and sewing clothes together for them. my daughter is only 2 months old, so she's way too young, but when the time comes i will not make any comments on what age she needs to stop playing with dolls.

I don't think it's wrong as most of the girls play with fashion dolls these days. It's all about the clothes you know...The child it fine....Be glad she still plays with dolls I say....Long as she has good grades and interaction with others she is just fine.

i think when they are no longer interested in playing with dolls is when its appropriate,i played with dolls until twelve or so...its not strange but a very healthy imagination that your children as well as yourself have...not strange but,a gift,it is a sign of intelligence.
